What is Shoot For A Cure?
Shoot for a Cure is fundraising campaign of The Canadian Spinal Research Organization (CSRO), the American Spinal Research Organization (ASRO), the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation (ONF) and StopConcussions.com, integrating professional and amateur sports/sporting events, corporate sponsorship and community partnerships, which includes other non-profits and non-governmental organizations. Our goal is to raise funds, increase awareness and assist in prevention and cure of neurotrauma injuries. Shoot for a Cure is an international campaign uniting neurotrauma communities around a common cause. Our goal is to raise $10 million over the next 5 years.
Where will all this money go?
Research. Awareness. Prevention.
We will direct funds to research in the Neurotrauma field through the ONFÔÇÖs funded research projects on Traumatic Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, and injury prevention. We will also support events promoting awareness regarding Neurotrauma and prevention programs such as the Play It Cool Ôäó program www.playitcoolhockey.com, a unique program aimed at preventing neurotrauma injuries in minor hockey by teaching kids to play safe and be aware of the risks in contact sports.
How does Shoot For A Cure raise funds?
Events ÔÇô Shoot For A Cure got its start in the sporting community, and has run hockey tournaments, golf tournaments, walk-run-wheel-athons, curling bonspiels, horse racing events, auto racing events, even dodgeball!
Easel fundraising ÔÇô You have likely seen fundraising easels in retail locations, with framed artwork, and a box to place silent auction bids. We have easels in locations such as MontanaÔÇÖs, Boston Pizza, and Fox & Fiddle. Local businesses are helping us raise funds in their ÔÇ£homesÔÇØ by offering their customers something to purchase for their homes or offices.
